We recently visited The Lorca, an upstate getaway that features a modern minimalist design. Started by Coco & Breezy in 2019, their main mission is to provide a curated space that offers inspiration away from the city in the calming sanctuary of Shandaken, NY. “We really want to bring diversity upstate.” -Coco

The three acre property hosts 4 different houses and has access to amazing nearby trails. There are two contemporary cottages, adorned with natural wood and beautiful accents like bright blue vases and modern art hanging on the walls. There is a cabin at the top of the property with a loft style bedroom that overlooks the living room and a stunning view of the surrounding trees. The main farmhouse has a wrap around porch with a vast kitchen and cozy living room and five early 1900s stone fireplaces. Each home offers access to private stream-side relaxation, outdoor fire pits and tables, and wooded exploration. |
The Lorca draws its name from the great Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca who resided there during the summer of 1929. The property is situated right near a stream and nestled between mountains and a wooded valley.
The Lorca is minutes away from great upstate attractions, like our personal fave; Phoenicia Diner and Hunter Mountain. There are top hiking and hiking destinations and if you are feeling like a very cozy dinner, check out Deer Mountain Inn.

Green, how I desire you, green. Green wind. Green branches. The ship upon the sea and the horse in the mountains. With the shade wrapped about her waist she dreams on her balcony, green flesh, a green coat, with eyes of cold silver. Green, how I desire you, green. —Federico García Lorca, Romance sonámbulo first published in Romancero Gitano (1928) (S.H. transl.) |
